Using WM5 Menus With Your BT Stowaway Keyboard

I just got an email from the great support folks at ThinkOutside. I was using the Bluetooth keyboard yesterday (and am right now in fact) and was constantly having to reach for the screen to activate the soft-key menus. Turns out the WM5 driver for the keyboard lets you do this from the keyboard. Just press and hold the blue Fn key, then press either the left half of the space bar for the left soft key or the right half for the right soft key. From there, letter accelerators work. So, put your stylus down.

Hi again Ed... Speaking of BT have you tried if the k-jam works with A2DP [i.e. Bluetooth Stereo Headsets]?

The one from ThinkOutside. I didn't know WM5 had a built in driver for the Stowaway BT keyboard. Are you sure about that?

Hi,

I'm using a Thinkoutside BT keyboard intensivelly with my Qtek 9100 (or K-Jam).

Regarding WM5 built in keyboard driver. This is done via the HID (Human Interface Device) BT profile. That mean if you don't install any driver, jut pair you BT keyboard, you will be able to select the HID profile. And thus use the keyboard.

The drawback is that you will possibly (at least you do with an french keyboard) end up with misplaced keys. And you will not have access to the applications shortcuts. However, soft keys will work with Fn 1 and 2.

I did try it because, with the Think Outside driver, my Qtek 9100 becomes instable after 1 hour or so. Screen or device start to switch on and off. This is not the case with HID native profile.

Anybody else has stability problem after long intermittent typing with the stowaway keyboard ?
